What Time Is It?

This is a nice little animated clock. At first the page looks too simple but just move your pointer to center screen and wait a couple seconds. If you watch closely you'll see the clock keeps track of the time in your time zone and it's up to the second.

The Perfect Fit

The Jig Zone provides jigsaw puzzles at varying degrees of difficulty. From 6 piece puzzles for the kids to 247 piece monsters. It has dozens of pictures ready to go as puzzles. The only problem I have with the site is that all the pieces for a given puzzle pop up in the workspace and frequently several pieces will be on top of one another and you don't realize it until you move one of them. In a three dimensional world with depth perception to help you can see this. In the two-dimensional world it's a different story. Wide variety of picture subjects and you never have to worry about loosing any pieces.

Rubber Bands--Shooting Techniques

Semiautomatic pistol, mini crossbow, spear, and sawed-off shotgun. Sound like weapons of lethal destruction? Would you believe they are all variants of "delivery methods" for shooting rubber bands. That's right. The Guide to Shooting Rubber Bands web site is dedicated to the sport/art/skill (?) of shooting rubber bands. The site covers such topics as the history, strategies, the aforementioned delivery methods, defensive tactics, physics, and safety.  Who would've thought?

Gallery Of The Undefinable

This site takes a swing at the world of art museum culture. Actually there are two sites here. The first site is the Museum of Depressionist Art. It specializes in Art of the Depressionist school. Here you can find various fine works  of art "...liberated from French restaurants, bars and bordellos." Because of it's popularity the curators opened up a special sculpture gallery called the Gallery of the Unidentifiable. It has a similar focus only it contains artwork more readily categorized as sculpture.

Could You Pass This Exam?

This is a very simple web site. It is a copy of the final exam for an 8th grade class in Salina, KS in the year 1895. Some of the questions might be specific to a particular education concept of the day. However many of them should be answerable by the general population. Could you answer them?

Movie Mistakes

Have you ever watched a movie and seen the microphone dip down into the screen? What about a water bottle that constantly fills, then empties, then fills again all during the same scene? MovieMistakes has all of these and more. Some mistakes are continuity ( fluctuating beverage levels), technical (crew member visible in mirror), historical (modern currency used in a time before it was issued). These are just some of the movie mistakes displayed at this site. If there is a weakness to this site, it is the limited scope of the movies listed. Most of them are current with just a few older films. The site boasts over 38,000 bloopers and goofs posted. Viewers can submit goofs they've spotted as well. Next time you plan on going to the latest box office biggie, visit MovieMistakes first, it'll either ruin the film for you or make it that much more entertaining.

Color In Motion

Colors have meaning in most cultures. It's seldom official but we all know red is the color of anger--and also of love. Color in Motion takes the basic colors of the rainbow and provides a personality profile and then an animated display/story of the color. Color in Motion is entertaining, amusing and even a little educational. A broadband connection is recommended for this site.

Asinine Poetry

The poetry at the Asinine Poetry homepage is... well... asinine. The poetry is usually pretty funny although every now and then some serious light poetry manages to sneak past the censors. The poetry tends to poke fun of our culture and also the poetic form. I kind of like the haiku of Lisa Smith, who seems to appear regularly on the site.

Make Your Computer Cook

With faster CPUs coming out almost daily, the internal temperature of your computer case is getting hotter as well. Don't let all that extra heat go to waste. Watch the hyper salesman tell you how to use that extra heat to cook up a storm with the Computer Cookery 5000.

Morphases

This site is like having your very own forensics identikit. Create a face by manipulating eyes, ears, chin, mouth, hair, etc. Morphases give you controls that let you put together a fairly good image from cyberspace. It's not the easiest program out there but with a little practice you'll be ready for your local CSI department in no time.

How Many Letters In The Alphabet?

If you said 26, you're wrong. This question and answer represent only one riddle from the RiddleNut page. The site contains hundreds of riddles. You can add riddles to your site or submit riddle to be published at RiddleNut's site. The answer by the way is: there are 11 letters in "the alphabet."

Political Humor

I’ve finally found a site that sticks it to both political parties at the same time. This is from a site called Jib Jab.

Get The Lawyers

The latest issue of Law Technology News had a great little article about web sites about lawyer/legal humor. The sites listed below are some of the sites listed in the article. The humor runs from bizarre defense pleadings, to musical numbers performed by a band consisting of lawyers and calling themselves the Well Hung Jury. Jokes, parodies, real courtroom lunacy and more abound.

Who's A Dummy?

Within the last several years there have been a number of publishers that have caught a wave of lunacy writing books that are allegedly for stupid, idiotic, moronic and just plain dumb people. You know who I'm talking about. Ulysses For Dummies is a parody of this genre, specifically one trademarked series. It takes the classic work of James Joyce and explains as only a book written for someone with a monosyllabic vocabulary could. Take note of the stick figure illustrations, not unlike other certain lower level reading materials.

Turn Your Monitor Into A Digital Camera

The site is called MonitorCamera and it allows you to take photographs with your computer monitor through a little known piece of technology. You know me too well to believe that one. But your friends don't. You can imagine what shows up in the picture. (Rated PG).

Lady Liberty

I hope everyone had a great 4th of July holiday. If you were camped out in a deep dark cave or on a submarine and were otherwise incapable of seeing the fireworks displays Lady Liberty has just the thing for you. Let the entire site load and then set off some fireworks of your own. For effect get a copy of Stars and Stripes Forever, turn up the volume and enjoy the festivities.

Stranger Than Your Philosophy

There are many strange occurrences in the world. Many isolated claims have been made over the years concerning visitors from outer space. Alien cave drawings, writing, and images can be found through this site. Along with these are assorted strange trivia--things about the Disney empire you may not know or want to know, conspiracy theories, ghost tales. All this and more can be found at Anomalies Unlimited.
